Use the 90/90 Rule for Clothes You Never Wear
The Problem
Your closet is packed but you wear the same 15 items. 80% of your clothes are taking up space.
The Hack
Go through your closet. For each item: Have I worn this in the last 90 days? Will I wear it in the next 90? If no to both, it goes into the donate pile.
Why It Works
Most people wear 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time. The 90/90 rule surfaces the truth: if it hasn't been relevant for 3 months and won't be for 3 more, it's not part of your actual life.
Pro Tips
- Season-specific items get a pass (winter coats in summer)
- Turn all hangers backward — after 90 days, anything still backward goes
- Sentimental items: take a photo, then donate the physical item
- Poshmark or ThredUp can turn donations into cash
