Review App Permissions Quarterly

The Problem

A flashlight app has access to your contacts, camera, and location. You granted permission without thinking.

The Hack

iPhone: Settings > Privacy & Security — review each category. Android: Settings > Privacy > Permission Manager. Revoke unnecessary access.

Why It Works

Many apps request broad permissions during install that they don't need for their core function. A weather app doesn't need your contacts. A game doesn't need your microphone.

Pro Tips

  • Review: Location, Camera, Microphone, Contacts, Photos
  • Set location to 'While Using' instead of 'Always' for most apps
  • Revoke microphone access for apps that don't need voice input
  • Do this quarterly — new app updates sometimes request new permissions
