Set Up Emergency Contacts and Medical ID on Your Phone

The Problem

You're unconscious after an accident. EMTs need to know your allergies and who to call.

The Hack

iPhone: Health app > Medical ID > fill in allergies, conditions, blood type, medications, emergency contacts > Show When Locked. Android: Settings > Safety & Emergency > Medical Information.

Why It Works

Medical ID is accessible from the lock screen without your passcode. First responders are trained to check for it. This information can be life-saving in an emergency.

Pro Tips

  • Include: allergies, blood type, medications, conditions, organ donor status
  • Add 2-3 emergency contacts with relationships
  • Accessible without unlocking — that's the point
  • Update whenever medications or conditions change
