Use Seat Guru to Check Seat Quality Before Booking

The Problem

You get stuck in a seat that doesn't recline, has no window, or is next to the lavatory.

The Hack

Go to SeatGuru.com. Enter your airline, flight number, and aircraft type. The seat map color-codes every seat: green=good, yellow=caution, red=avoid.

Why It Works

Not all economy seats are equal. Some have extra legroom, some don't recline, some are near lavatories. SeatGuru crowd-sources this information so you choose the best available seat.

Pro Tips

  • Green seats: good. Yellow: be aware. Red: avoid
  • Check before selecting seats during booking or check-in
  • Exit row seats have extra legroom but may not recline
  • Window seats near the wing have the smoothest ride
