Roll Your Clothes Instead of Folding to Fit 30% More

The Problem

Your suitcase is stuffed and you still have half the pile to pack. You sit on it to close.

The Hack

Roll each garment tightly from bottom to top. Pack rolls vertically like sardines. Bulky items (jeans, sweaters) on the bottom, lighter items on top.

Why It Works

Rolling eliminates the air gaps that folding creates between layers. Tightly rolled items conform to irregular suitcase shapes, maximizing every cubic inch.

Pro Tips

  • T-shirts, pants, and dresses roll best
  • Fold structured items (blazers, dress shirts) — roll everything else
  • Pack rolls vertically so you can see every item from above
  • Compression packing cubes + rolling = maximum space
