Don't Drive in Another Car's Blind Spot

The Problem

You cruise alongside another car for miles. They don't know you're there.

The Hack

Avoid lingering beside other vehicles — either speed up to pass or drop back. If you can see their side mirror, they can probably see you. If you can't see their mirror, they definitely can't see you.

Why It Works

Blind spots exist in specific zones beside and slightly behind vehicles. Lingering there makes you invisible to the other driver, who may change lanes directly into you.

Pro Tips

  • Pass other vehicles — don't cruise alongside them
  • Large trucks have enormous blind spots — stay out of them
  • Rule: if you can see their mirror, they can see you
  • Speed up or drop back — don't pace beside other cars
