Pre-Treat Stains with Dawn Dish Soap

The Problem

Grease splatters, food stains, makeup marks, and ring-around-the-collar don't come out in a regular wash.

The Hack

Apply a drop of blue Dawn dish soap directly to the stain. Rub gently with your finger or a soft brush. Let sit 5-10 minutes. Wash as normal.

Why It Works

Dawn is a powerful surfactant designed to break the chemical bonds of grease and oil — the same reason it cleans dishes so well. It's gentler on fabric than dedicated stain removers.

Pro Tips

  • Works on every grease and oil stain
  • Blue Dawn specifically — not Ultra or antibacterial versions
  • Also works on collar stains and armpit yellowing
  • Apply before putting stained items in the hamper
