Bay Leaves Repel Pantry Moths and Weevils

The Problem

Tiny moths fly out when you open the pantry. You find weevils in your flour and rice.

The Hack

Tape fresh or dried bay leaves to the inside walls of pantry cabinets. Drop a leaf into flour, rice, and grain containers.

Why It Works

Bay leaves contain eucalyptol, a natural compound that repels moths, weevils, and other pantry insects. They can't stand the scent.

Pro Tips

  • Replace bay leaves every 6 months
  • Store flour, rice, and grains in airtight containers
  • Freeze new flour for 48 hours after buying — kills any existing eggs
  • Wipe shelves with vinegar to remove moth pheromone trails
