Borax and Sugar Bait Eliminates Ant Colonies

The Problem

Killing visible ants doesn't solve the problem. The colony has thousands more and a queen producing new ones.

The Hack

Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1.5 tablespoons borax, and 1.5 cups warm water. Soak cotton balls in the mixture. Place near ant trails on small pieces of foil or cardboard.

Why It Works

Worker ants eat the sweet bait and carry it back to feed the colony and queen. Borax is a slow-acting poison that kills over 24-48 hours, ensuring it reaches deep into the nest.

Pro Tips

  • Don't kill ants near the bait — let them carry it home
  • Refresh bait every 2-3 days until ants disappear
  • Keep away from pets and children
  • Most effective for sugar ants (the small brown ones)
