Keep Fruit Flies Away with Apple Cider Vinegar Trap

The Problem

Fruit flies swarm your kitchen, especially around bananas and the trash can. They multiply fast.

The Hack

Pour 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar into a small cup or bowl. Add 2-3 drops of dish soap. Leave on the counter near the fruit fly area.

Why It Works

Fruit flies are attracted to the fermentation scent of ACV. Normally they can land on liquid surfaces, but dish soap breaks the surface tension so they sink and drown.

Pro Tips

  • Replace every 2-3 days
  • Put one near the fruit bowl and one near the trash
  • Cover with plastic wrap poked with holes for extra effectiveness
  • Store fruit in the fridge during fly season
