Seal Entry Points with Copper Mesh

The Problem

Gaps around pipes and vents let mice, roaches, and insects into your home.

The Hack

Cut copper mesh (sold in rolls at hardware stores) to size and stuff tightly into gaps around pipes, vents, and utility entry points. Seal over with expanding foam or caulk.

Why It Works

Copper mesh is too tough for rodents to chew through and doesn't rust. Unlike steel wool, it maintains its barrier integrity for years without degrading.

Pro Tips

  • Copper mesh won't stain walls like steel wool can
  • Available at Home Depot and Amazon ($8-10 per roll)
  • Combine with caulk or foam for a permanent seal
  • Check around dryer vents, AC lines, and plumbing penetrations
