Stop Ants with a Vinegar Spray Barrier

The Problem

Ants are marching across your kitchen counter in a line. You kill one and ten more appear.

The Hack

Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray directly on ants and along their trail. Spray along baseboards and entry points.

Why It Works

Ants follow pheromone trails left by scouts. Vinegar destroys these chemical trails so following ants can't find the path. It also kills ants on contact.

Pro Tips

  • Wipe up the trail, then spray the entry point
  • Find where they're coming in and seal with caulk
  • Keep counters crumb-free — prevention is key
  • For persistent problems, use borax bait stations
