Use Floss to Cut Perfect Cinnamon Roll Slices
The Problem
Cutting cinnamon roll dough with a knife squishes the layers flat. The filling oozes out and rolls are uneven.
The Hack
Slide a length of unflavored dental floss under the dough log where you want to cut. Bring both ends up and cross them over the top. Pull in opposite directions to slice clean through.
Why It Works
The thin floss cuts through soft dough without compressing it. The crossover pull creates even pressure from all sides simultaneously, preventing squishing.
Pro Tips
- MUST be unflavored floss
- Mark your cut points first for even spacing
- This also works for cutting logs of cookie dough and polenta
- A 12-count batch of rolls should be cut about 1.5 inches thick
