Microwave Lemons for 15 Seconds to Get Double the Juice

The Problem

You squeeze a lemon and get barely two tablespoons. Half the juice stays trapped in the pulp.

The Hack

Microwave the whole lemon for 15 seconds. Roll it on the counter with your palm pressing down. Cut and juice.

Why It Works

Heat softens the cell membranes inside the lemon, releasing trapped juice. Rolling then breaks down the pulp structure further, maximizing extraction.

Pro Tips

  • Works on limes, oranges, and grapefruits too
  • Room temperature citrus always juices better than cold
  • If no microwave, roll firmly on the counter 10 times
  • A fork inserted and twisted inside the cut half helps extract the last drops
