Use Split Screen to Work in Two Apps Simultaneously

The Problem

You constantly Alt-Tab between a document and a reference. Context switching kills focus.

The Hack

Windows: Drag window to screen edge, or Win+Left/Right Arrow. Mac: Hold green button > Tile Left/Right. Both snap the window to half the screen.

Why It Works

Side-by-side windows eliminate context switching. You reference data in one window while writing in another — no toggling required.

Pro Tips

  • Win+Left Arrow: snap to left half. Win+Right Arrow: right half
  • Mac: green button hold > tile options
  • Perfect for: writing while referencing, data entry, coding with preview
  • Works on iPad too: swipe up from bottom for app dock
