Apply Rain-X to Windshields Before Rainy Season

The Problem

Driving in heavy rain with poor visibility. Wipers can't keep up. You're squinting through the downpour.

The Hack

Apply Rain-X (or similar hydrophobic treatment) to your windshield. Clean glass first, apply with a cloth in circular motions, let haze, buff off. Water beads and sheets off at speed.

Why It Works

Rain-X creates a hydrophobic silicone layer that prevents water from spreading into a film. Instead, water beads up and wind pushes them off. Above 35 mph, the windshield practically clears itself.

Pro Tips

  • Apply to side windows and mirrors too
  • Reapply every 2-3 months or when beading stops
  • Clean the windshield thoroughly first — wax and dirt prevent bonding
  • $5 bottle treats a windshield 4-5 times
