Protect Your Car's Finish from Summer Sun with Shade Parking

The Problem

Your car bakes in direct sun 8 hours a day. The paint is fading. The interior is cracking.

The Hack

Whenever possible, park in shade: under trees, in covered parking, or in the shadow of buildings. If no shade, use the windshield sunshade at minimum.

Why It Works

UV radiation degrades paint clear coat, fades interior plastics, and cracks leather. A car parked in sun ages 2-3x faster than one parked in shade. The cumulative damage is thousands in reduced resale value.

Pro Tips

  • Even partial shade (tree, building shadow) helps significantly
  • Covered parking is worth paying for if available
  • If no shade: windshield sunshade + tinted windows reduce interior damage
  • UV damage is cumulative and irreversible
