Change Your HVAC Filter Every 60-90 Days

The Problem

Your HVAC works harder pushing air through a clogged dirty filter. Energy bills rise, air quality drops.

The Hack

Pull out the old filter (usually behind a vent or in the HVAC closet). Note the size printed on the frame. Buy replacement at Walmart or Home Depot ($5-15). Slide in with arrow pointing toward the unit.

Why It Works

Clean filters allow maximum airflow so your system runs efficiently. Dirty filters restrict air, forcing the motor to work harder and use more energy.

Pro Tips

  • Set a phone reminder every 90 days
  • Buy a 4-pack for the year — cheaper per filter
  • Homes with pets need changes every 60 days
  • Check filter monthly during heavy-use seasons
