Ctrl+Shift+T Reopens Your Last Closed Tab

The Problem

You close an important tab by accident. You can't remember the URL or find it in history.

The Hack

Press Ctrl+Shift+T (Cmd+Shift+T on Mac) in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Your last closed tab reopens. Press it again for the one before that.

Why It Works

Browsers maintain a closed-tab stack in memory. This shortcut pops the most recent entry, restoring the exact page, scroll position, and form data.

Pro Tips

  • Works in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave
  • Press multiple times to reopen several tabs in order
  • Even works after accidentally closing an entire window
  • The single most useful browser shortcut most people don't know
