Apply Wax or Sealant Twice a Year for Paint Protection

The Problem

Your car's paint is fading, oxidizing, and losing its shine. The clear coat is slowly dying.

The Hack

After washing and (optionally) claying, apply a liquid or paste wax. Spread thin, let haze, buff off with a clean microfiber towel. Do this spring and fall.

Why It Works

Wax creates a sacrificial barrier between your paint and UV rays, bird droppings, tree sap, and road chemicals. It also fills micro-scratches and creates the glossy 'wet' look.

Pro Tips

  • Liquid wax is easier to apply than paste
  • Spray sealants (like Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions) are even easier — spray on, wipe off
  • Spring and fall: twice a year is sufficient
  • Ceramic coating ($30-50 DIY) lasts 1-2 years vs 3 months for wax
