Use Dryer Sheets to Remove Bugs from the Front End

The Problem

Bug splatter on the front bumper, grille, and hood hardens and won't come off with regular washing.

The Hack

Wet a dryer sheet with warm water. Lay it on the bug-splattered area for 30 seconds. Wipe gently. The bugs dissolve and wipe away with almost no effort.

Why It Works

Dryer sheets contain surfactants that break down the proteins in bug residue. The softening agents loosen the dried splatter. Combined with warm water, it's like a chemical solvent for bugs.

Pro Tips

  • Wet the dryer sheet — don't use dry
  • Let it sit 30 seconds on heavy buildup
  • Works on grille, bumper, hood, mirrors, and headlights
  • Also prevents future buildup — the coating makes new bugs easier to remove
