Vacuum Before You Wash the Interior

The Problem

You wipe the dashboard then vacuum. The vacuum blows dust back onto the clean surfaces.

The Hack

Start every interior clean with a thorough vacuum: seats, floor mats, between seats, crevices, trunk. THEN wipe surfaces. This order prevents re-contamination.

Why It Works

Vacuuming removes loose particles that would otherwise be spread around by wiping. Clean-then-vacuum puts dust back in the air that settles on just-cleaned surfaces.

Pro Tips

  • Remove floor mats and vacuum underneath
  • Use a crevice tool for between seats and console gaps
  • Vacuum seats thoroughly — crumbs hide in seams
  • Then wipe all surfaces with baby wipes or interior cleaner
