Use Rubbing Alcohol to Remove Stubborn Sticker Residue

The Problem

You removed a sticker from your bumper or window. The gooey adhesive residue remains.

The Hack

Soak a cloth in rubbing alcohol (isopropyl 70% or higher). Lay it over the residue for 1-2 minutes. Rub gently — the adhesive dissolves and wipes away. Clean the area with soapy water after.

Why It Works

Isopropyl alcohol dissolves the polymer chains in adhesive without damaging automotive paint, glass, or plastic. It evaporates quickly and leaves no residue of its own.

Pro Tips

  • Also works: Goo Gone, WD-40, or coconut oil
  • Safe on: paint, glass, plastic, chrome
  • Test on a hidden spot first on delicate surfaces
  • Nail polish remover (acetone) works but can damage some plastics
