Stop Eating 3 Hours Before Bedtime

The Problem

You eat dinner at 8:30 PM and snack until 10. You have acid reflux and gain weight.

The Hack

Finish eating 3 hours before bed. If bed is 10 PM, last food by 7 PM. If hungry, a small protein snack (handful of nuts, string cheese) is OK.

Why It Works

Eating triggers insulin, digestive activity, and thermogenesis — all of which interfere with sleep quality. Lying down shortly after eating also causes acid reflux. A 3-hour gap allows digestion to complete.

Pro Tips

  • Your body processes food better during daylight hours
  • Late-night eating is linked to higher body fat percentage
  • If truly hungry, keep it small and protein-based
  • Tea or sparkling water can satisfy the evening 'mouth hungry' feeling
