Make Whipped Coffee (Dalgona) with Instant Coffee
The Problem
You want a fancy coffee drink but don't have an espresso machine or $6 to spend at a café.
The Hack
Combine 2 tablespoons each of instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a bowl. Whisk vigorously by hand (5-7 minutes) or with an electric mixer (2 minutes) until thick and golden. Spoon over a glass of cold milk.
Why It Works
Whisking dissolves the coffee and sugar while incorporating air. The proteins in instant coffee stabilize the air bubbles, creating a thick, mousse-like foam that holds its shape on top of milk.
Pro Tips
- Electric mixer or milk frother makes this much faster
- Works ONLY with instant coffee — regular ground coffee won't whip
- Try it with chocolate milk for a mocha version
