Put a Paper Towel in Your Salad Bag to Keep Greens Fresh

The Problem

You buy a bag of salad mix and it's wilted and slimy by day three. Half goes straight to the trash.

The Hack

Open the bag of greens and tuck a dry paper towel inside. Seal the bag with as little air as possible. Replace the paper towel when it gets damp.

Why It Works

Greens decay because of excess moisture trapped in the bag. The paper towel wicks moisture away from the leaves, dramatically slowing the decomposition process.

Pro Tips

  • Works for spinach, arugula, kale, mixed greens, and herbs
  • Replace the towel every 2-3 days for maximum effect
  • Also works with a clean kitchen cloth instead of paper towel
  • Store greens in the crisper drawer set to high humidity
